Indian cricketer, Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Wednesday, stepped down as the T20I and ODI captain of Indian cricket team that shocked world cricket. The media was made a confirmed by BCCI on Twitter. But he will be available for selection for the limited over the game against England, said the cricket board.
The 35-years-old wicketkeeper-batsman has a great ability surprising world cricket with this decision; the skipper has made it again. Since two years back, in the year 2014, he had made a surprise to world cricket when he announced a shock retirement from Test midway during a tour of Australia.
According to the sources, the chief executive officer of BCCI Rahul Johri said about Dhoni’s unexpected announcement; he said “On behalf of every Indian cricket fan and the BCCI, I would like to thank MS Dhoni for his outstanding contribution as the captain of the Indian team across all formats. Under his leadership, the Indian team has touched new heights and his achievements will remain etched forever in the annals of Indian cricket.”
Master blaster of former Indian cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar wrote in his congratulatory message, he wrote “Congratulations to MSD on a wonderful career as a captain leading India to success in both T20 and ODI World Cups. I have seen him emerge from an aggressive player to a steady and decisive captain. It’s a day to celebrate his successful captaincy and respects his decision. Wish MSD the very best as he continues entertaining us on the field with his exploits.”
MSD decision has now smoothed the way for Test captain Virat Kohli to take over the mantle of the limited overs team as well. Stating his desire to quit captaincy, Dhoni expressed to the selection committee that he will be available for selection as a player for the three ODIs and as many T20s against England starting 15 January.
Ace shooter Gagan Narang and actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who play the role on his biopic tweeted congratulating Dhoni sudden announcement of quit captaincy.

With Virat Kohli growing in stature as a leader, Dhoni’s timed his decision of giving up the captaincy entirely. There was calm, fans were looking forward to the ODIs and T20Is, the selectors is going to meet in two days to select the limited-overs squad for the England series.
According to the reports, Dhoni might play for India A in the warm-up games in Mumbai before starting the series; he was training regularly with the Jharkhand Ranji team which had qualified for the semis.
However, there was never the least hint of what was to come next. And true to nature, just like his retirement in Tests, Dhoni shocked the cricketing world yet again, with his sudden decision to step down as limited-overs captain.
